Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in the world. Glaucoma is a series of diseases which damage the optic nerve of the eye. Glaucoma is usually caused by an increase of pressure in the eye. Glaucoma is known as the "Silent Blinder", because most people with glaucoma can loose most of their vision before they even know they have a problem! That is why regular eye exams are important to diagnose glaucoma and treat it before patients loose vision.
Most glaucoma is treated with eye drops. Laser is also an option to treat glaucoma. Surgery is sometimes required to treat glaucoma.

MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery)
MIGS is the most recent advance in glaucoma surgery. MIGS are a number of different devices (stents) that can be inserted into the drainage system of the eye, reducing the pressure of the eye. Stents are tiny tubes which when placed in the drainage mechanism of the eye (the trabecular meshwork) help improve the drainage of fluid from the eye, lowering pressure. MIGS are approved to use at the time of cataract surgery in patients who have glaucoma.
